Description
Coffee Table Book of: Cherry Blossoms. Cherry blossoms change a tree for a brief part of the year. This collection follows that change from closed buds and opening flowers to pale crowns, new leaves and petals resting on the ground.
Lone trees stand beside water, on quiet slopes and along empty paths. Closer views turn to short flowering twigs, folded petals and the small shapes within a blossom.
The scenes move through mist, clear mornings, rain and evening light. A few views of summer leaves, autumn colour and bare winter branches place the flowering season within the longer life of the tree.
Short notes run through the book, on flower parts, changing light and the movement of fallen petals: flower buds protect the developing parts before a blossom opens, double flowers have more petals than the simple flower form, bud scales part as the flower within begins to grow outward, and the first visible petals mark the change from a closed bud to an opening flower.
Printed in full colour on heavy 150gsm coated paper at 216 x 279 mm (8.5 x 11 inches), as a hardcover with the art printed on the case.
