Description

You think you’re reading this for the first time, but I used to think that too, before everything started repeating in ways I couldn’t explain, before moments began to feel familiar in places they had no right to be, before I started noticing how often I stood at the edge of something and called it coincidence instead of what it really was;

My name is Mira, and there was a time when that meant something simple, a life you could trace in straight lines, growing up in quiet places filled with books instead of noise, windows I spent too much time staring out of, always feeling like something was just out of reach but never knowing what, and I learned early how to leave things before they could leave me,people, places, feelings,if it became too much, too real, I stepped back, telling myself it was strength, that it was control, that it was safety, when really it was distance, and distance became a habit I stopped questioning; I built a life around it, conversations that never went too deep, attachments that never lasted too long, moments that felt almost meaningful until I pulled  away just before they could become something I wouldn’t know how to hold onto, and I thought I understood myself because I knew exactly when to stop, I thought that was enough,until the day stopping didn’t work; it wasn’t dramatic, there was no single moment I could point to and say this is where everything changed, it was quieter than that, a feeling that returned before I could place it, a presence that didn’t belong to any memory I could fully recall but felt like it had always been there anyway, like I had stepped into something I didn’t remember entering, or maybe something I had never truly left; at first I told myself it was nothing, just my mind filling in gaps, creating patterns where there weren’t any, but the feeling didn’t fade, it sharpened, repeated, followed me in ways that weren’t physical but weren’t imagined either, and then there were the moments,the ones where I would pause, breath catching for no reason, because something felt off, not wrong, not dangerous, just already happened, like I was walking through something twice without realizing I’d been there before, and I started to wonder if memory could exist without permission, if something could stay with you without ever being clearly defined, if connection could form before you even knew who it belonged to; and then I met him,or at least, that’s what I told myself,but even then something in me hesitated, not out of fear, but out of recognition, like my instincts had reached him before I ever did, and that’s the part no one prepares you for,not the mystery, not the confusion, but the quiet, undeniable feeling that what you’re experiencing isn’t new at all, just something you’re finally aware of; so if this feels familiar to you, if something in these words settles a little too easily inside your chest, then maybe you already understand more than you think, because this isn’t a story about meeting someone,it’s about what happens when you realize you’ve been returning to them all along.
