Adams, James Hopkins; was born in South Carolina about 1811; graduated at Yale College in 1831; was a member of the Legislature and Senate of South Carolina; was Governor of. That State from 1855 to 1857. After the secession of South Carolina from the Union was one of the Commissioners ap pointed to confer with the President concerning United States property in South Carolina; died near Columbia, South Carolina, July 27, 1861.
