Agustin Arguelles (1776-1844) earned the name El Divino for his eloquence in the Cortes of Cadiz, where he was among the principal authors of the constitution of 1812 — the founding text of Spanish liberalism. Exiled under Ferdinand VII, returned under the regency, he ended as tutor to the young Isabel II.This biography, written by a contemporary, follows him through the whole arc of Spanish liberal politics.This is a faithful print-on-demand facsimile of the 1864 edition, reproduced in full from a library copy.
