Excerpt from Beiträge zur Kenntniss der Poesie der Alten Araber
Die als Einleitung dienende Abhandlung über Ge schichte und Kritik der alten Arabischen Poesie ist aus triftigen Gründen später als die anderen Aufsätze ver fasst und hat daher eine andere Paginierung erhalten. An sie reiht sich der gleichfalls die Arabische Poesie im Allgemeinen behandelnde Abschnitt von Ibn Qutaiba. Streng genommen, geht dieser ein wenig über die Grän zen hinaus, innerhalb derer ich mich in diesem Buche bewegen wollte, da er nebenbei auch von der neueren Dichtung bis zu seiner Zeit spricht.
