Description
O''kane, o''ccrcham. - This name is anglicised o''cahan in old law documents, inquisitions, &c., but it is at present made o''kane, or Kane, in the north of Ireland, and the form o''kane is adopted throughout this translation. There were several families of the name in Ireland, of whom the most powerful and celebrated were seated in the baronies of Keenaght, Tirkeeran, and Coleraine, in the present county of Londonderry; but it would not appear that the ecclesiastic, Whose death is here recorded, was of this sept.
