Dinah wusch ihren Kindern auf folgende Weise das Gesicht: Zuerst hielt sie die armen Kleinen mit der Pfote am Ohr fest, dann rieb sie ihnen mit der anderen Pfote das Gesicht ab, und zwar in der umgekehrten Richtung; das heißt, von der Nase aufwärts. Gerade in jenem Augenblick hatte sie, wie gesagt, das weiße Kätzchen fest in der Arbeit; es lag ganz still da und versuchte zu schnurren es fühlte jedenfalls, daß alles zu seinem Besten geschah.
