Description

Born in Woolwich, S.E. London, in May 1943, Alan Cox lived in the same terraced house in nearby Abbey Wood for the following twenty years. During the post-war days of rationing amid the bomb sites, he watched his parents making what little money was available, go round. With a toolmaker father who loved nothing better than making what he couldn't buy, and a highly practical mother ensuring her children never went without, ingenuity and invention surrounded him. This inspiration rubbed off on the young lad, and remained indelibly printed on his memory.  Every page is like being a fly on the wall, brim-full of delightful, humorous facts and personal anecdotes told straight from the heart. A unique piece of social history that will delight all generations.
