Description
This short work is intended as a summary of the Aqeedah of Ahl Al Sunnah Wal Jama’ah, by the meaning of the followers of the prophet Muhammad and his companions. It is written as a quick guide and learning reference, touching upon the distinct features of creed most relevant to the controversies surrounding modern sectarian divisions and the most prominent historic creedal debates.
Originally written in 2002 CE, I compiled this from my own lecture notes taken during a series of lectures by Sheikh Omar Bakri Muhammad in London, UK. Sheikh Omar delivered the series to both teach a summary of Aqeedah and to clarify his beliefs following his public change in manhaj from a past in Ash’ari/Maturidi creed, to adopting the methodology of al-salafiyyah. By al-salafiyyah, we do not mean any pro-saudi politicised movement or organisation, but we mean the apolitical methodology of objectively comprehending the religion of Islam according to the understanding of the companions of the prophet Muhammad (saw).
As this is a summary, it is a great introduction to the topic of creed, without to dive too deep into any single topic, for which there are other more detailed books available. Published in 2026 CE, little change has been made since the original besides correction of typos and improvement of footnotes, language and presentation.
