Description
When rounding off a letter to his friends in the newly-established church at Philippi, the Apostle Paul gave them ‘something to think about.’ Listing a number of virtues which should characterise the life of every Christian, he encouraged everyone to ‘think on these things.’
Recent ‘lockdowns’ radically altered the life style of nations and individuals across the world. No corporate worship and no face-to-face fellowship took some getting used to for the active Christian.
Our God hasn’t changed, though, and our Bibles still serve as ‘a light to our paths.’ The combination of these two constants gave the author ‘something to think about.’ Drawing on many years engaged in both writing and Scripture teaching and preaching he has put together a collection of his meditations. For us ‘to think about.’
Included are studies on a number of Bible questions, the well-known hymns of John Newton and William Cowper and glimpses into the lives of some prominent and some lesser known characters in Scripture. The underlying theme of the book is the influence of God and the life and teachings of our Lord Jesus on the experience of people in all sorts of situations and with all sorts of hang-ups.
Its aim is to make the Bible come alive for the reader by using simple headings and not too many technical or deep theological terms.
