Description

There was some pretty fighting for a while, for the Chinese had it all to themselves until the British Ships had taken up their positions, some of them being a good deal knocked about during the process. Once, however, the British blue-jacket was let go, things became lively ashore, and in a little while landing parties cleared out all that remained, some of the Tar tars, however, standing up to our men with great pluck.
