It has long seemed strange to me that the history of the attempts to spread the gospel over the world during the last eighteen hun dred years has not constituted a very im portant part of the religious instruction and study of young people in our Sunday schools. The history of the United States has been extensively used for the develop ment of a patriotic feeling toward our coun try, and religious history might similarly be used for the development of faith in God.
