Description
Excerpt from Spiritual Instructions on the Holy Eucharist
The following Addresses were not intended to present a systematic View of the Mystery of which they treat, nor were the subjects selected on any definite plan. The purpose contemplated was rather to cherish devo tion and suggest materials for meditation; and the subjects were chosen as circumstances seemed to sug gest. The Reader is requested to bear this explanation in mind, as some apology for any want of order in the arrangement, and for repetitions which it is feared may be found to exist.
The Addresses in their original state were given to the Sisters of the Community of S. John Baptist, in the Chapel of the House of Mercy at Clewer, for their special use. But it is hoped that they may be found useful in a wider sphere than that for which they were originally intended. At the same time their primary object needs to be borne in mind, because the senti ments and advices often have a special reference to a Sister''s life, and are therefore generally applicable only with certain modifications.
