Description
Excerpt from Nectar and Pollen Plants of California
Of the thousands of species of plants that grow in California, at least 200 are here considered to be of sufficient importance to mention as yielders of pollen or nectar. The major honey sources are confined to the plants of only 8 of the 136 families listed for the state. Hundreds of ?owering plants may yield some nectar or pollen and yet each may be too scarce in a given locality or yield too meagerly to be of material importance from the viewpoint of bee culture.
