The vast extension of the railway system has nearly superseded the old Stages and Coaches, but a few lines still run among the mountains and in remote rural districts. Where the object is not merely to get quickly from point to point, this is perhaps the most enjoyable mode of travel, and, in pleasant weather, the traveler should try to get an outside seat. The charges for stage-travel are relatively high - often as much as 100. Or 150. A mile.
In all the cities and larger towns there are Omnibuses at the station on the arrival of every train, which connect directly with the principal hotels; a small charge (us''ually is made for this conveyance.
