Description
S. John, in the two last chapters of his tical book, commonly called his Apocalypse, or Revelation, makes mention of a glorious city, which he calls the New Jerusalem, which he says he saw coming down out of heaven from God, and the angel that showed him this city, told him it was the spouse of the Lamb. (chap. Xxi. Ver. So as none can doubt, but that by this city is mystically represented the Church mili tant upon earth, which came down from heaven.
