Es ist in keinem Anderen Heil, ist auch kein anderer Name den Menschen gegeben, darinnen wir sollen selig werden, als in dem Namen Jesu Christi das ist das Be kenntnis der christlichen Kirche. Mit diesem Bekenntnis hat sie begonnen; auf dieses Bekenntnis sind ihre Märtyrer gestorben, und aus ihm schöpft sie noch heute wie vor achtzehn hundert Jahren ihre Kraft. Den ganzen Inhalt der Religion, das Leben in Gott, die Vergebung der Sünde, den Trost im Leide, bindet sie an diese Person. Sie knüpft damit das, was dem Leben Inhalt und Dauer verleiht, ja das Ewige selbst, an ein Geschichtliches und behauptet die untrennbare Einheit von Beidem.
