Description
Excerpt from The Story of the Arndts: The Life, Antecedents and Descendants of Bernhard Arndt Who Emigrated to Pennsylvania in the Year 1731
Additional information was expected from Germany, and this, of course, was not forthcoming; in addition the course of events at home operated to prevent much consideration being given the work. It is presented now because it is con sidered desirable to preserve the materials that have been collected.
The extensive collection Of genealogies now housed in the Historical Society Of Pennsylvania contains the records of many Pennsylvania German families, but very few of them carry the reader beyond the date of the arrival in the Province Of the immigrants. Probably not 10 per cent. Of these records give anything but the vaguest information prior to the immi gration; most of them merely state, with more or less accuracy.
