This new and revised edition of the Statute Laws of the Colony has been prepared and printed under the authority of the Statute Laws (revised Edition) Ordinance, 1904. It is based on the edition prepared in 1894 by Mr. (now Sir John) Carrington, then attorney-general of the Colony, under the authority of an Ordinance similar to that under which the present edition has been prepared. Though the edition of 1894 was the first edition of the Statute Law of the Colony issued by the authority of the Government, it was not the first compilation of it that was published, and a brief account of the various editions which have been issued may be of interest.
