Excerpt from Proceedings of the Sesqui-Centennial Gathering of the Descendants of Isaac and Ann Jackson, at Harmony Grove, Chester Co;, Pa;, Eighth Month, Twenty-Fifth, 1875: Together With the Family Genealogy
Photographic views taken at the time of the Gathering have been helio typed for the work, as likewise a pen-and-ink sketch of the old mansion at Bal litore, said to have been the residence of our early ancestor, Isaac Jackson, prior to his emigration to America. The old building had been taken down a short time before the sketch was made, but the artist had retained, from actual knowledge of the place, a vivid recollection of the architectural work, and others testifying to the correctness of his sketch, it may be regarded as a good representation of the building, somewhat remodeled in later years, yet some portions retaining the unique style of the olden time. The views, how ever, reproduced in the heliotype, have not, as rarely can they have, the clearness and finish which are presented in photographic representation.
