Excerpt from Genealogy of William Carver From Hertfordshire, England, in 1682

They were all members of the religious Society of Friends and settled in Byberry, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. They took up a tract of land there and dug a cave in which they lived until they built a house.

The old farm remained in the family, and in the name of John Carver, for five successive generations.

Joseph Carver married and moved to North Carolina, near Carver''s Creek. Jacob died unmarried.

William Carver, the first of our American ancestry, married 11th month 14, 1689 (old style), at Middletown Monthly Meeting of Friends, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Joan Kinsey, a descendant of Chief Justice Kinsey (see Middletown Monthly Meeting of Friends'' Minutes). She having died, he, in 1723, married at Falls, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Grace Carter (see Minutes of Falls Monthly Meeting), a widow, whose maiden name was Paxson, from. Bristol, England (see Will Book No. 1, page 44, at Doylestown). He had one child by her, named Hannah. William Carver died at Byberry, Philadelphia County, in May, 1736. His will is recorded at Philadelphia, in Will Book E, page 369, June 2, 1736. Grace Carver, his widow, died in 1737. Her will is recorded at Philadelphia, in Will Book F, page 42, in 1737. She left the most of her estate to her son, Robert Carter.
