Excerpt from Genealogy of the Ela Family, Descendants of Israel Ela, of Haverhill, Mass
Daniel ela settled in Haverhill as early as 1656, being then married and about 23 or 24 years old. He continued to reside in Haverhill till 1698, soon after which time he removed to Boston, where he died, aged 80, December 22, 1710. His wife, Elizabeth, died in Haverhill July 7, 1698. His will, dated December 17, 1710, left his estate to his wife Eleanor.
He had a son John to whom, before his second marriage, he sold his Haverhill estate, retaining a life interest.
John married Jane and had two daughters. Elizabeth died in her infancy and Jane, born February, 1704, married, June 13, 1823, Nathaniel Doane, of Cape Cod. John having no male issue, the name is not preserved in his line.
