Description

Excerpt from Abstracts From the Wills and Testamentary Documents of Binders, Printers, and Stationers of Oxford: From 1493 to 1638

The testamentary documents are found in Registers (i, 1, ber, and gg; in fifteen volumes of Wills in eight volumes of Administration Bonds in ten volumes Of Inventories, and two volumes of Accounts. The com paratively late date (1536) of the first will of a stationer is partly due to the fact that many of the earlier Oxford stationers were foreigners, who could not legally make wills, their afi'airs being generally handed Over to some of the minor University officials.
