Description
In this short work, we hope to explore the principle, “The sayings of the Sahābī is not evidence in the Dīn” and elucidate through the Islamic texts how such a notion has neither basis nor place in the Dīn of Islam.
The main aims of studying this topic include: firstly to introduce and revive the concept of talāzum (unison and dependence) between the Prophet ﷺ and his Companions, in that the Prophet (saw) could not have fulfilled his mission without the help of the Companions. Secondly, to prove that the Sahābah were not only chosen to carry and protect the Dīn i.e. the Qur’ān and Sunnah but also the best in their understanding of it.
Lastly, we will demonstrate that the Sahābah themselves, Ulema of the Tābi’īn and Tabi’ Tābi’īn including the four Imāms used to consider the sayings and actions of the Sahābah as authentic reference for the Dīn in opposition to some scholars of the fifth century and later.
