As part of the 80th commemorations of the end of WW2, Burbage Heritage Group researched the men in Burbage who were lost in the War. The research covered the stories of the fallen, their families and the way in which the village acknowledged their ultimate sacrifice. The 32 men, had an lasting impact on a small village, with many intertwined family relationships between many of the men who lost their lives, with poignant stories of parents, wives, children and girlfriends. This book captures some of these stories, together with the way in which their loss was added to the commemorations on a superb marble monument, which is still an iconic part of the village. Biographical information, war diaries, letters and photographs are brought together to vividly portray their personal stories.
