Description
William R. Chorley’s definitive record of Bomber Command Losses of the Second World War have been reprinted and are now presented in a larger format than previously. All nine volumes of this iconic work will be available in this series.
During the course of the Second World War, some 55,573 members of Royal Air Force Bomber Command became fatal casualties and a further 18,000 were wounded or became prisoners of war. This volume, the first in the series, also includes details of the losses of Bomber Command aircraft in the three years leading up to the outbreak of the Second World War.
The opening stages of the war were markedly different in their nature from the later massed raids on Germany, and targets across Occupied Europe. Though operations were smaller in scale, the hardships faced by the crew were every bit as great.
The meticulous research undertaken by the author in this classic work will be evident to historians and enthusiasts as well as to the relatives and friends of the airmen involved.
