In the course of the Author's Teaching, he has frequently obsemed that when, playing in three or four Flats or Sharps, the execution of a passage has not been re tainted by the introduction of the or Flat or Sharp, but rather from the want ofa correct I ingering of some other note or notes more closely connected with the Scale of C. Therefore ln presenting the Secom/ Number ofhisprecfptlve lessons to the Amateurs of the Flute, the Author pre - supposes that the Pupil has already made himself thor'oughl) acquainted with the Fingering c of the First, and, if correct in this will experience but little difficulty in accomplishing the Exercises &c in the present Book.
