Description
Excerpt from The Diseases of Poultry
The domesticated birds, which we group together under the general term poultry, constitute a very important part of the farm animals of the country. Their number and value are enormous. There were in 1890 according to the census chickens or dung - hill fowls and other domesticated fowls in the United States. This gives a total of individual fowls. The number at present in the country is undoubtedly much larger than in 1890.
