In the Introduction to the Hz''jfory of King Pbi/z''p''r War, Mr. S. G. Drake has cited letters written by Rev. Samuel Mather of Bof''ton, the brother-inllaw''of Thomas Hutchinfon. He writes, My Father''s Library was by far the moft valuable Part of the family Property. It confifted of 7000 or 8000 Volumes of the moft curious and chofen Authors, and a prodigious Number of valna ble Manufcripts, which had been collected by my An ceftors for five Generations. Again, writing in 1784.
