I hope 1° before I have finished this work to trace See Chew more accurately than has yet been done the dividing line between science and art; but, ln the meantime, there is no doubt that poetry must take rank among the arts, and that the name of science in connection with it must be reserved for the critical theory of its processes and of its in?uence in the world. Such is the sense in which the word is used upon the title.
