Description
Opinion in which Milton was concerned, and the concurrent appeal to brute force in which he had no concern, had left England trying quietly for a time the experiment of a Restoration of the Stuarts, Milton resumed his singing robes; and his later poems, Paradise Lost, Paradise Regained, and Samson Agonistes, were the nobler for the discipline of self-denial to which Milton had submitted.
