Description

‘Rhymes for no Reason’ is the first book of slightly whimsical and rhyming poetry by Dick Dixon. It is illustrated in full colour by Reine Mazoyer, as all the books are. The subject matter is similar to that in the books that follow, though slightly different in nature. Again, many odd situations arise, such as a tree that grows upside down – the Gumbum tree. How can such a tree survive? The answer will possibly shock you, but if you are firmly strapped into your seat there should be few problems. Many other problems are considered. For example, how would you advise a lady to deal with an excessively hot curry? In this case she was incorrectly advised, I am sorry to say, and disaster ensued. In this book, the illustrations are integrated with the text, which makes for a rather more intimate reading experience perhaps – if that is the right word. Some of the poems here would be suitable for a certain type of child I expect, though it is hard to define just what that type is! The other thing about this book is that it is not available through Amazon or any publisher. If you would like a copy, just email the author at dikkk@btinternet.com for full details.
