Excerpt from Cuneiform Supplement (Autographed) To the Author''s Ancient Persian Lexicon and Texts, With Brief Historical Synopsis of the Language
Professor F. H. Weissbach has been working on some very satisfactory photographs, recently come into his possession, of the Grave of Darius at nak''s-i-rustam. He has been enabled to correct many readings in the upper inscription (n Ra), as well as to discover quite a number of somewhat isolated words occur ring in the mutilated lower inscription (nrb). In addition to this he reads with certainty several superscriptions over the heads of the National Types of the Empire. All this material Professor Weissbach has kindly placed at my disposal. In a personal letter he has given me the list of his nrb readings, and has forwarded in Reindrucl''en, Correctumbzug, Qt?d Fab nenabzug advance pages of his excellent work, Keilz''nsc/ifi?en der Ackz''imeniden, which furnishes a synaptic trilingual text, and includes also all the purely Babylonian inscriptions of this dynasty. The volume will be issued within the next few months, probably long before the undersigned has corrected the final proof of the present book.
