This second edition, revised and enlarged, embodies eight years more of experience, suggestions from many edu cators, the benefits of scholarly research by other au thors, and the helpful contributions from various kinds of experiment to determine standards of effectual teach ing. The book itself is an expression of gratitude to all who have aided in making a clearer presentation of his tory and principles of education.
