Description
In the third act Loris and Fedora are enjoying the freedom of her villa in the Bernese Alps. While the Count goes on an errand, Fedora learns that the incrimina ting letter, which she had sent to the Russian authorities, has brought about the arrest and execution of the brother of Loris, a tragedy causing his mother''s death. Loris returns and on opening letters from St. Peterslrurg, learns all the truth. Over whelmed, he begs Fedora to aid him in bringing to justice the woman who has betrayed him Fedora in remorse at the outcome of her incriminating letter prays him pitifully to remember that the lover of Vladimir must have suffered, too. Loris, confused, reiterates his resolve to revenge himselfon the one who has ruined his family. Fedora, fearful that he will himself murder her, drains a cup of poison, receiving at the last moment the pardon of Loris.
