Eine Übersetzung gleicht einem Fensterglas. Ist ein solches staubbedeckt oder rauchgeschwarzt, so zieht es die Aufmerksamkeit auf sich; erfüllt es hingegen seine Aufgabe in annähernd vollkommener Weise, so gleitet der Blick hindurch ohne seiner zu achten. Kein anderes Los erstrebt diese Übertragung der Poetik. Moge man sie so wenig als möglich gewahren, aber gar oft durch sie hindurchblicken auf das Original, das haufiger und eindringender Betrachtung in hohem Maße wert ist als das reife Erzeugnis eines der feinsten und umfassend sten, wenn auch vielleicht nicht der tiefsten Geister aller Zeiten.
