The book is very well written, being direct, appreciating that this is going to appeal to a person already familiar with the Battle of Britain. Peter Carter was one of ‘Churchill’s Few’, and yet was just another forgotten pilot, well that is until Brian Gates came along and changed that. The book features some fascinating detail and images that I have never seen before, Brian has cleverly linked all the connections to other RAF pilots of that period which obviously helps to bring this remarkable story to life. There has no doubt been an awful lot of dedicated and time-consuming research done to achieve this read. I have read a lot of books over the years relating to the ’Few’ and of course most of these do usually cover the achievements of the more well-known aviators of that period, so it is so refreshing to read about one of the ‘Forgotten few’.
