Essential English Skills Book 2

    By

At the request of Key Stage 3 teachers, Schofield & Sims has rebranded two key series - English Skills and Mental Arithmetic - for use at Key Stage 3 and beyond. Perfect for recovery work and for building functional skills in English, Essential English gives each student intensive practice that is matched exactly to their ability level, supporting differentiation and personalised learning. The series enables students to succeed in skill areas where they have previously failed and widens written vocabulary, helping them to gain proficiency in other subjects, both academic and vocational. Essential English Skills 2 is for pupils who can use simple conjunctions to write compound sentences. They can spell correctly most high-frequency words and use spelling strategies to spell those that are less familiar. This book helps students learn to: use conjunctions while when because, open sentences in different ways, chose words for impact and precision, adapt some spellings when adding a suffix and use apostrophes in shortened forms.
