The Changing Face(s) of Children's Writing

Published on 09/07/2014 by David Birkett

Some of Britain’s favourite writers and storytellers have transformed themselves into their best-loved children’s characters for a photographic exhibition at The Story Museum in Oxford. Children’s Laureate Malorie Blackman appears as the Wicked Witch of the West, Sir Terry Pratchett becomes Just William and Neil Gaiman metamorphoses into what The Story Museum’s website calls a well-known, stripey woodland creature.  A host of supporting activities will allow young visitors to hear specially-commissioned new stories by major writers, visit the Centre’s library, dress up as their own favourite characters, and have their portrait taken for an online gallery.  The exhibition, called 26 Characters, runs until 2nd November and is supported by Arts Council England.
