Here’s a little quiz, for amusement only, using some of the well-worn techniques of cryptic crossword compilers. Each answer in the first section is either the title, author of, or character in a well-known work of fiction.

    1. Bad, bad sign, o frog, for hairy carrier (5, 7)
    2. The dynasty, the hills - the ring's between for romance (9,7)
    3. Short actor my whole dove follows crookedly for thriller (3,3,3,5,2)
    4. Scribe made Iran's lush arrangement (6,7)
    5. More poor outside poor Mat's a fearful novelist (4, 6)
    6. Sounds like a horse? The circle's back for children's favourite (6,3,4)

The second section comprises book titles re-arranged into anagrams which, cunningly, still describe the books.  Can you solve these without resorting to technology?  We think 8 is particularly elegant.

    1. Frodo's lighter, then? (3,4,2,3,5)
    2. Sad pair stole (8,4)
    3. Can frost chain lion here? (3,10,2,6)

We’ll be posting the answers on our Facebook page in a week or so.  In the meantime here are a few of our crossword-related titles.

    Happy de-crypting!
